With the help of the apprenticeship program and the mentorship of journeymen in the trade, I was able to eventually work my way into a foreman’s position and now a superintendent.  This has offered me financial growth opportunities, health care coverage for my family, and a retirement, all of which would not have been available if I had not joined the union.
