Out of Work List?

What’s the Out of Work List?

I recently had a member call the office and let me know that he would be resigning from Local 1237 due to lack of work.  I asked him if he was on the out of work list?  He said no that he was not aware of the out of work list.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions he had not been able to attend Member Orientation and was unaware of the process.  If you are not working you need to call the union hall (916)393-2742 and ask to be put on the out of work list.  They will ask you for your name, journeyman or apprentice and the best phone number to reach you at.  If an employer is looking to hire or just needs some extra man power we know who to call.  We get calls from the Employment Development Department (EDD) asking if an individual who has filed for unemployment benefits has been looking for work.  If you are not on the out of work list, we must let them know that you are not.  You must also call in on the first day of each month to be out put back on the list.  You will not be added to the next month’s list unless you call in.  If you are on workers compensation or disability you must also put your name on the out of work list.  Please see below Article 13 section 5.3 and 5.4 from the Local 1237 By-Laws.

(social security, pension, state compensation, etc.). Attending doctors certificate must be forwarded to the Union office before a claim will be considered.
