COVID-19 Protocols

Posted August 30, 2021

Attention All Local 1237 Members,

Due to increasing health and safety concerns raised by the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus, District Council 16 and all affiliated local unions effective Monday August 30th, 2021 have implemented that all staff and visitors to any DC16 facility, for any reason, will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result obtained from a medical professional within 72 hours of entry. This requirement applies, without exception, to all members and staff. Without either, you will not be allowed on the property and asked to leave.

As our own incoming General President Jim Williams Jr has said “What we in unionized construction pride ourselves in is being the safest workforce in the industry,” We’d be crazy to think that we’re promoting health and safety by not having our workforce vaccinated at this point.”

I would like to thank all District Council 16 members for continuing to be leaders in the industry. This will allow all members to continue to work and avoid another potential shutdown of the economy.

Should you have any questions, please contact your Business Agent.

The above letter is going out to all members of District Council 16.  If you are an apprentice, please check your email as the Director of Training Alex Beltran sent out Covid-19 protocol for the JATC. The Local 1237 Executive Board recently decided that in the best interest of the membership, they have asked for a 6-month extension to use Zoom for monthly meetings.  We had hoped to have in person meetings starting next month, but with the increase of covid cases nation wide it was best to error on the side of safety.  If you have any questions, you can reach me at (916)407-8279.
