WHAT’S HAPPENING

Posted August 8, 2025

RETIREE APPRECIATIONLU 83 hosted a luncheon for all our retirees.  They came to share a meal and stories of what it was like when they were in the field.  Additionally, former BMST Chris Christopherson came to speak to them about engaging with our Local to share all their knowledge.  A huge salute to these gentlemen who have achieved what we are all working for: a dignified retirement after a life of work and service to our Local and Union.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTSThis Sunday, 8/10/2025, we are having another Know Your Rights workshop.  We will discuss what you should/should not do when encountering unlawful questioning and detentions.  Everyone is welcome and we will have some resources available for you.  The start time is 11 AM.  Doors will close and remain locked.  Bring family, friends, neighbors, and anyone interested in knowing more about their rights and the protection of their community.  If you can’t make it, be on the look out for upcoming workshops.

Mark your calendar!

Upcoming journeymen training classes.  Don’t forget, you will need to have scaffold/swing stage, OSHA 10/30 AND all required certs from this year to be dispatched beginning January 1, 2026.  Get a jump on your certs now..  If you can’t make classes held during the week, go to dc16star.org to sign up for them.  Note, you will not receive STAR credit for the picnic as a walk in, so it’s important to register.
