A Bright Future for the Finishing Trades Training Center in Tracy
Posted June 25, 2026

District Council 16 would like to thank the members and volunteers who attended the Tracy Planning Commission meeting in support of the Conditional Use Permit for improvements to our new Finishing Trades Training Center.
Their presence and support helped demonstrate the importance of investing in apprenticeship training and creating opportunities for the next generation. The Conditional Use Permit will allow improvements to move forward, bringing us one step closer to completing a modern training facility that will serve apprentices and journey workers throughout the region.

Members of the Tracy City Council expressed their enthusiasm for the project, sharing that they are excited to welcome a facility that creates opportunities for working people and offers local residents a pathway to rewarding careers in the union building trades. Their support reflects a shared commitment to workforce development and strengthening the local community.

While we are already hosting apprenticeship training classes at the Tracy facility, we are excited to see the building improvements continue and can’t wait for the completed, state-of-the-art training center. Once finished, the upgraded facility will provide an even better learning environment, ensuring our members receive the highest quality training and the skills needed to succeed in today’s construction industry.
We are grateful to everyone who took the time to attend this meetings and stand with us. Your support continues to make a difference as District Council 16 invests in the future of our members, our apprentices, and the construction industry.
