It’s Busy!
Posted February 20, 2026
Brothers and Sisters,
We are looking at a very busy year for Local 913. This summer, June 30th, both Paint and Drywall CBA’s will be expiring. Negotiations for both will be starting soon and your input is needed. I, along with other Paint & Drywall reps, have been visiting jobsites and chatting with members about what they would like discussed at the negotiating table. We offer a QR code that will take you to our contract survey where you can voice your opinion for the contract, links to the surveys have also been sent out via text message from the local so keep an eye out for that. Your input is vital to giving us the information needed to fight for the best contract possible.
New construction is also making a comeback throughout the peninsula and the city, it’s apparent by the appearance of tower cranes on the city skyline. Projects like Gilead in Foster City, UCSF Parnassus, along with the Bay Bridge & Golden Gate Bridge repaints and many other projects going up though out the region will put our members to work.
Don’t forget to Stay involved with the Local. Our Monthly membership meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month, 6pm at the Union Hall, 1620 Folsom Street San Francisco.
District Council 16 Volunteer Activist Committee
The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) was built on activism. Whether on the picket line or at the polls, we ensure our voices are heard—and when we fight, we win!
District Council 16 keeps this spirit alive through our Volunteer Activist Committee (VAC). From precinct walks and phone banking to community clean-ups and parades, the VAC hosts a diverse range of events year-round. Any DC16 member can propose an event for the calendar, and participation is open to everyone.
As a “thank you” for your service, members who attend three or more events in a calendar year are invited to our Annual VAC Banquet—a night of great food, drinks, and raffle prizes.
Upcoming Opportunities: With election season approaching, there are ample ways to drive positive change in the area. Campaign events for endorsed candidates will be happening often. Also, mark your calendars for:
- SF St. Patrick’s Day Parade: March 14th
- Cesar Chavez Parade: April 11th
- Community Service: Serving hot meals with Street Life Ministries every third Tuesday at the Menlo Park Caltrain Station.
Get Involved: View the full calendar at DC16iupat.org/get-involved.
We look forward to seeing members, family, and friends at upcoming events.
The VAC banquet this year will be held on March 7th . Invites have been sent out. Please remember that only those that receive an invitation are allowed to attend. There are no plus ones allowed at the event.
