How we stay strong 💪

Posted March 20, 2026

Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

I’ve recently been reflecting on our union’s past. It’s important to remember that the early members of the labor movement fought hard for the rights we enjoy today. Following the Great Depression, our union experienced significant growth. Those workers stood together to demand better working conditions, the eight-hour workday, and the right to organize.

I’ve been making an effort to visit more job sites and talk directly with members to hear your concerns and ideas about our union. Your voice matters, and those conversations help guide the direction of our local.

Early next month, we will be offering a Building Union Power class. I encourage everyone to participate and continue strengthening our membership.

As a reminder, nominations will be held in May for BMST, Business Representative for Local 767, and delegate positions to DC16. If you have any questions about the process or qualifications, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’m happy to help.

We are also waiting on updates in the Sacramento area. We’re still hopeful that the UC Davis Medical Tower project will begin ramping up manpower for Enclos soon. At this time, the other contractor on site has been moving slowly and has not been bringing on many new members. Please reach out to me so I can provide any leads I may have. Remember if you are out of work to put your name on the Out of Work List the first working day of the month.

If you have any issues, concerns, or need assistance, please contact me. I’m here to support you.

In solidarity,

John Tweedt

Business Representative

DC16/LU767
