Local 1621 is proud to announce an upcoming Spanish Recovery Night at our union hall in partnership with our District Council 16 family.

This special evening will focus on addiction recovery, mental health awareness, and the power of support—presented in Spanish to ensure our Spanish-speaking members and families feel informed, included, and supported.
Construction workers face some of the highest rates of suicide and addiction of any industry. The pressures of the job, the physical toll, and the long hours can weigh heavily—not just on our members, but on their families as well. That’s why breaking the stigma is so important. Asking for help is not weakness—it is strength.
After losing 182 members in just 12 months to suicide and addiction, DC16 made a promise: No more silent struggles. From that commitment, the Helping Hand Program was created—and it is saving lives. So far, 99 members are still with us today because they reached out and received help.
This Spanish Recovery Night is about making sure every member of Local 1621 knows:
âś” You are not alone
âś” Help is available
âś” Your family matters
âś” Recovery is possible
This program is not only for members—it is also here for your spouse, your children, and your loved ones. Addiction and mental health struggles affect entire families, and together we can heal as a union family.
We encourage all Spanish-speaking members and their families to attend this important night of awareness, hope, and connection.
If you or someone in your family is struggling, please reach out to James Boster at jamesb@dc16iupat.org.
We’re not just building structures—we’re building each other up.
