Here at District Council 16, we are very excited to announce that one of our own has been appointed to the Vallejo City Unified School District Board of Trustees!

“I applied for and was appointed to sit on the Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) board as the Trustee for Area 1. In this position, I will assist in overseeing and voting on policy for curriculum, district standards, financial issues, site improvements and public works projects for the district, amongst other things. With my background in the trades and current position on staff, I will be bringing a perspective that might not otherwise be there, that being the importance of using skilled and trained workers on projects throughout the district. I will officially take office on December 14, 2022 and will be expected to be as informed as possible about the district and its policies. One of the ways VCUSD is preparing me for that is to have me attend the Annual Education Conference (AEC) and Trade Show from December 1, 2002 – December 3, 2022. In addition, they are asking me to attend the orientation for new trustees on November 30, 2022. I believe that both training courses can only benefit me but to be a more effective VCUSD board member, which in turn would make me more of an asset to our members, DC 16, and the IUPAT.”
