Bylaws and More!

Posted April 12, 2021

Brothers and Sisters,

I hope everyone is doing well. Work has started to pick up and I want to remind everyone that we start a new out of work list each month. So if you get on the out of work list the last week of the month you need to call in to get back on the first working day of the month. We have had a lot of requests for Drywall Finishers. Most recently I received a request from Kaiser for in-house Drywall Finishers at the Modesto Facility. Although these positions may be temporary there is the possibility for something long term. I have also received a request from the Folsom Prison for Drywall Finishers. If you or anyone you know may be interested call us and we will get you the details. Painters are also getting busy so get in touch with us if you are not working. I have already received calls to see what the workforce looks like in the coming months. Outlook on work is good for this year.

Its bylaws time again.  At the 32nd General Convention the delegates voted on the changes and additions to the IUPAT General Constitution.  After the new constitution comes out, District Council 16 and all the Locals in District Council 16 have to redo their bylaws. District Council 16 Bylaws were ratified on April 9, 2021 and now it’s time to vote on the Local Bylaws. The Local 487 Executive Board is also the Bylaws Committee, they have been working on the local’s bylaws for over 9 months.  After several revisions they have a proposed set of bylaws.  We will be sending a proposed set of bylaws to every member of Local 487 via mail on April 12, 2021.  A Special Called Bylaws Ratification Vote is scheduled and called for on April 28, 2021 from 1pm to 6pm for all Local 487 members.  To adhere to all Covid-19 protocols, drive-thru voting will be held at 7111 Governors Circle, Sacramento, CA 95823.  If you have any questions, please call me at (916)407-8279.

The convention kicked off with a touching speech from our sister, who talked about how proud she is of her journey as an apprentice and the personal growth she’s experienced.
