Bylaws

Posted August 8, 2025

LOCAL 1621,

We are proud to share that the District Council 16 bylaws revote has passed once again—this time with an even more decisive 76% YES vote, a strong increase from the 64% approval in the first vote. This result sends a powerful message: our members have spoken, and their voice is being heard loud and clear.

This vote wasn’t just a formality—it was a critical step in shaping the future of our union. The increased support shows growing unity, purpose, and clarity among the membership about the direction we want to move in. The approval of these bylaws reflects the will of the body and sets the foundation for strengthening how we function as a union, both locally and across the District Council.

With the DC16 bylaws now approved and officially in place, Local 1621 will move forward by establishing a Bylaws Committee. This committee will be tasked with reviewing our current Local 1621 bylaws and proposing updates or changes that better reflect the needs of our members, improve how we operate, and ensure we are aligned with the newly adopted District Council guidelines.

The formation of this committee is an opportunity for meaningful member involvement, and we encourage any members interested in being part of this important work to step up and participate. This is your union—and this is your chance to help shape its future.

We want to thank every member who took the time to vote and engage in this process. Whether you were for or against the changes, your participation matters and keeps our union democratic and member-driven. This result shows that when we stay involved, informed, and united, we can make our voices count and drive real progress.

Let’s continue building on this momentum. Together, we will keep strengthening Local 1621 and fighting for the rights, protections, and respect that all union workers deserve.

In Solidarity,
Cole Davis
