Beltran for the Win!

Brothers and Sisters,
I hope this article finds you working all the hours you can and trying to beat California heat. It has been a very busy summer so far and it doesn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon. The STAR’s event will be a drive through event and dates and locations will be mailed to you if you qualify in the next few weeks. If you feel that you should have qualified but didn’t get an invitation, please call Monica Garcia at (925)600-0475. I want to remind all of you that on August 5, 2025, there is a Special called Meeting to vote on the DC16 By-Laws, I hope you will make every effort to attend. You should have received a copy of the proposed by-laws mailed to your house, if you did not get a copy please let me know and I will get them to you.
This past weekend the JATC held their Annual Apprenticeship Graduation Dinner. The members that were in attendance had journeyed out during the year 2024. There were 24 Floor Covering members who had journeyed out and 4 of them were from Local 1237, Joshua Alvarado, Alex Beltran, Andrew Day, and Charles Miller. Alex Beltran was awarded the Floor Covering Apprentice of the year, following in the footsteps of past winners Rakesh Kumar (2019), and Cody Hartwick (2024). Alex was given this award by instructors Val Chestohin, David Marshall, David Mathie, Robert Ringor, and Tim Ringor, because as an apprentice he went over and above what was expected of him. As a third-year apprentice he stepped up and became a Trustee to the Local 1237 Executive Board when the position needed to be filled, and since has been an asset and a voice for the younger members. Alex was also the first apprentice to finish and pass the Journeyman Floorcovering Exit Exam (written and hands on exam). I have included pictures of Alex Beltran and his Father Alex Beltran who is the DC16 Director of Training, and Andrew Day with his Father Curtis Day who works for Pro Grass West. I know I speak for the members when I say congratulations to our new journeyman and job well done.
Fraternally,
