Brothers and Sisters,
The DC16 training team attended the 15th anniversary of the City Build Academy pre-apprentice program in San Francisco. It was a warm and sunny day in the Southeast end of San Francisco. The partnership of City College, former mayor Gavin Newsom, and the Building Trades was the birthplace of the City Build Academy. It has grown and produced new apprentice applicants ready for the jobsite. I have worked side by side with graduates of this program and have seen these apprentice become successful journeymen. The current mayor London Breed surveyed the craft tables. Glazing instructor Erik Schorken encouraged Mayor Breed to try cutting some glass. After a little reluctance she gave it a shot and she cut her first piece. It was a fun day in the Bayview.
