Painters and Drywall Finishers Contract Update
Congratulations to both the Painters and Drywall Finishers on ratifying your new collective bargaining agreements! These contracts represent significant gains for our members and reflect the strength of our solidarity throughout the bargaining process.
Painters
Bay Area Painters have secured a $17.00 wage and benefit package increase over the next four years.
For our Sacramento Painters, negotiations with the Sacramento PDCA are currently underway. We hope to have a Sacramento Area Addendum ready for a membership vote soon. Please make every effort to attend your monthly membership meetings to receive updates on the progress of negotiations and stay informed throughout the process.
In the meantime, we will be sending a survey to all Painters regarding how you would like the $4.00 increase scheduled for January 2027 to be allocated. Watch for a text message containing a link to the survey, and please take a few moments to complete it. Your input is important and will help us develop allocation options that reflect the priorities of the membership.
Drywall Finishers
Drywall Finishers have secured a $20.00 wage and benefit package increase over the next four years for both the Bay Area and Sacramento.
The new agreement also includes important improvements to travel pay:
- Travel between 65 and 139 miles: $150 per day
- Travel between 140 and 249 miles: $300 per day
- Anything over 250 miles will be calculated at the old travel calculation.
In addition, foreman pay has increased:
- Foreman: 10% above the Journeyman rate
- General Foreman: 20% above the Journeyman rate
These are significant improvements that recognize the leadership and responsibilities of our foremen.
The first increase, effective July 1, has already been allocated as follows:
- $3.61 to Taxable Net Wage
- $1.25 to the Annuity
- $0.05 to IUPAT-FTI
- $0.05 to IUPAT-LMCI
- $0.04 to Work Preservation
Fourth of July Holiday Schedule
I have also been receiving a lot of questions regarding the Fourth of July holiday weekend. For both the Painters and Tapers, the schedule is as follows:
- Friday, July 3 is a Holiday. If you work that day, you should be paid Double Time.
- Monday, July 6 is a Designated Day Off. If you work that day, you should be paid Time and One-Half.
Please be sure to review your pay to ensure the proper rates are applied if you are scheduled to work on either of these days.
If you have any questions regarding the new agreements, wage allocations, holiday pay, or anything else related to your contract, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
Thank you to everyone who participated throughout the bargaining process. Your engagement and solidarity continue to make our union stronger, and together we will keep building on these gains for all our members.
In Solidarity,
William Gonzalez
