4th Quarter Apprenticeship Training

Posted October 17, 2025

Did you know DC16 apprentices get trained 4 weeks out of the year for a total of 160 class hours? During the course of an apprentice’s program in the trades they will be required to attend classes where they can advance their skills. Instructors from DC 16 will put the students through a structured curriculum to ensure that they have the skill sets needed to become a successful journeyman.

This week we had a chance to stop by one of the scheduled 4th quarter classes with the painters. It was amazing to see all the projects each student was working on. There were 1st year to 3rd year apprentices working on different techniques from wood finishing to brush skills. Each student we talked to stated they enjoyed the time outside of big projects to be able to try new things and not have the pressure of costing their company money if they mess up or do it fast enough.

Over the next month each trade will get a chance to work at the training center working on the mockups and working with different materials. If you would like a chance to see these students in progress, reach out to the Union Hall and the business representative will be happy to schedule a time for a visit.
