Why Prop 50 Matters to Us — Union Workers 🛠️
In November, Californians will vote on Proposition 50, and it’s an important one for working people like us.
Prop 50 is about protecting California workers from federal attacks that could hurt our jobs, wages, and benefits. It gives California more power to stand up to decisions coming out of Washington that don’t support working families.
Here’s why you should care:
• Your paycheck is on the line. When anti-union politicians control Congress, they push laws that weaken unions, lower wages, and cut funding for infrastructure and public projects. That means fewer good-paying jobs for us.
• Prop 50 helps defend California jobs. It helps keep worker-friendly representatives in office—people who fight for strong labor laws, fair pay, and project funding that keeps our members working.
• This is about control. Do we want our future shaped by people who care about California workers—or by Washington politicians who don’t?
Here’s what’s at stake:
Prop 50 would allow newly-drawn congressional boundaries in California for the 2026, 2028 and 2030 elections, maps drawn by the Legislature rather than our independent citizens commission.
The official labor coalition argues that a “YES” helps protect our union jobs, supports infrastructure investment (think: more publicly-funded construction, more trade-jobs) and defends workers’ rights from attacks.
If we don’t act, the argument goes, we may face elected officials less friendly to labor, less likely to back apprenticeship programs, prevailing wages, union hiring halls. Our voices can be diluted.
Vote YES on Prop 50 and return your ballot by November 4
Let’s protect our work, our wages, and our families.
