VAC IS OPEN!

The Volunteer Activist Committee (VAC) is open again!  For those of you who are new to the union or you just don’t know, the VAC is geared to help serve the unions and the community. VAC events range from political activities, Shop Steward Training, pickets, organizing, labor donations, helping the Retiree Activist Committee and the Women’s Growth & Action Committee.  To qualify for VAC Membership status, you must do 3 VAC events during a calendar year.  Once you have done this you will be invited to the VAC Awards Banquet.  You will have receive some swag as you sign in, have a nice family style dinner and you will also be put into a raffle for all sorts of prizes. The best part is that you don’t have to be a union member to be eligible.  Anyone can participate in all VAC events, except children under 18 are not allowed to do certain events.  As of today, there are only 2 events listed on the VAC calendar and they are in the Bay Area.  If you know of a need in your community you can talk to your VAC Coordinator and he can help you set one up.  If you have questions or would like to talk more about the VAC, you can always reach me at (916) 407-8279.
