UC Davis California Tower
Posted August 8, 2025
Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
Last week, I met with Enclos to discuss the UC Davis California Tower Project. This major undertaking will span about two and a half years and includes the complete building envelope—panels, glass, roof screen trellises, and other key components. At its peak, this project will employ between 35 and 50 glaziers and ironworkers.
Enclos also has a glass replacement project scheduled for the Sacramento Courthouse, expected to require 8 to 10 glaziers starting around the second week of September.
AGA is also increasing its workforce. Their projects include:
- The Capitol Annex
- Kaiser in Roseville
- Kaiser Rail-yards
These projects are expected to last approximately two years and, like the Enclos work, will be dispatched at Sacramento wage rates.
It’s encouraging to see this volume of work coming to Sacramento. This will allow us to grow our membership and put people back to work who have been waiting for the opportunity. In addition, there is another large expansion project scheduled to run at the same time. I urge all journeypersons to ensure their certifications are current so they can be dispatched immediately when these projects begin.
I’m also pleased to share that the Caltrans project in Eureka, California is moving forward, with two more members recently dispatched to that site.
I strongly encourage everyone to attend Local Union meetings. These meetings are the best place to learn about upcoming projects, make valuable connections, and gain access to opportunities that often come through networking. My goal is to bring the superior who does the hiring into these meetings so he can speak directly to our members.
Finally, congratulations to the five apprentices who have advanced to journeyperson status. Your hard work and dedication have paid off.
Stay safe, and please contact me if you need anything.
Safe travels
