Local 913 teamed up with Friends of Old Town in South San Francisco to hold a Thanksgiving Turkey Drive. The event was a huge success and over 200 Turkeys went out to families! Everyone who volunteered was also had the opportunity to take a turkey if they wanted to.
The West Bay Locals will be feeding the less fortunate will be feeding the less fortunate on December 20th at the Menlo park at 6;30. The Christmas event always draws out a big crowd so we could use the extra help from volunteers. This is a good event to bring your family to so everyone can get the VAC credit, and if you need to get one more in before the end of the year to qualify for the banquet, this is your chance!
Restoration of the Curran Theater in downtown San Francisco is almost wrapped up for our painters. This is highly Skilled work as the Painters have to mix and match their own paint to match the 100-year-old ceiling. This is sort of a dying skill in our trade. With paint stores color matching with computers, not a lot of painters know how to mix and match their own colors anymore. But when it comes to restoration work and matching historical work, it is a skill that pays! If you or someone you know is knowledgeable in color matching and faux finishes, contact the local as there are several theater restorations scheduled in the New Year. Below is a photo of the almost complete ceiling at the Curran.
