Brothers and Sisters,

I headlined this article with TRAIN as you as trades working members of DC16/LU294 need to understand the importance of Training. We have recently had some job opportunities for our members that been challenging to fill as the jobsite required all applicable training certificates be up to date including OSHA in order to work on the project. While I will admit that some of the smaller projects around the valley are not as strict most of your larger projects are installing strict policies that all workers on the project have all of there certs up to date. So please keep your certs up to date. And don’t misplace or lose your certs especially your OSHA card as it is issued by the State and cannot be replaced, so if you lose it you have to take the class all over again to get your cert. In addition, some of these larger projects are requiring Alcohol and Drug testing before going onto the project and randomly throughout the remainder of the project. Just because alcohol and marijuana are legal if they are in your system at accelerated levels, they can have you leave the project. So please train up and if you like to party do so in moderation if you’re wanting to get the hours that a larger project has to offer!
