Things You Need to Know

Brothers and Sisters,

I hope this article finds you getting the kids back to school and looking forward to the Labor Day 4-day weekend. At the July Membership Meeting I spoke to the members about having monthly meetings to talk about our upcoming contract negotiations next year. The first meeting will be held on Thursday August 27^th at 5 p.m. here at the union hall. We start this meeting by going over what is currently in our contract and discussing what we like or dislike about the contract. I am asking that we have one journeyman and one apprentice from each shop. The Labor Day weekend is a four-day weekend, the DDO is September 4, and the Holiday is on September 7^th. If you work the DDO the rate of pay is time and a half. If you work Saturday, Sunday or Monday the rate of pay is double time.

Through the STAR’s Program if you attend the August 29^th Skills Class in Sacramento and agree to take a 1-hour Carpet Recycling Class, you will receive a $300.00 pair of ProKnees. This class is limited to 24 participants. Here is the link to the STAR’s website https://dc16star.org/

Door Dash Program
The EFB distributes bags of food to over 500 Stockton residents’ doorsteps every Tuesday. Contact 2-1-1 Family Resource and Referral Center to enroll (see info above).
USDA Commodities
Food and nutrition items provided by San Joaquin County are distributed at the Emergency Food Bank on the last Wednesday of each month (see Helpful Links below).
