Out of Work List

Work has slowed in the last few weeks and the Out of Work List (OWL) is starting to grow. For those of you who recently joined the union, if you have been out of work for more than 2 days you need to call the office (916)393-2742 and put you name on the OWL. To remain on the list, you must call back on the first day of the month. If you are filing for unemployment, you must be on the OWL. If EDD were to call and you are not on the OWL, they will deny your unemployment benefits. If you are an apprentice, you must be on the OWL so if needed you can be assigned to fulfill a DAS-142. As an apprentice you can be dispatched to a DAS-142 to a non-union company, you will not be paid your union benefits, but you will receive your total package minus taxes. This will help keep some money in your pocket and gas in your tank. With several large projects coming up, we should be getting busy again. As always, I can be reached at (916)407-8279
