NorCal Glaziers Pension Update, Wage Allocation Results and Election Information
Pension:
Brothers and Sisters,
Good news from the NorCal Glaziers Pension Plan
I am proud to report that at the Board of Trustees meeting, the NorCal Glaziers Pension Plan was 101.8% funded.
The Trustees unanimously approved (Management and Labor) an important accrued benefit improvement. This enhancement rewards past service and strengthens the pension for eligible participants.
Eligibility Any participant who worked at least 435 hours in the plan year July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025 will receive the improved accrual rates listed below.
Benefit Improvement This improvement provides a 0.50% increase in the accrual rate for nearly 20 years of service (July 1, 2005 – June 30, 2025), plus a smaller improvement for the 2003–2005 period.
Here are the updated accrual rates:
| Plan Years | Current Rate | New Rate |
|---|---|---|
| 7/1/79 – 6/30/02 | 5.0% | 5.0% |
| 7/1/02 – 6/30/03 | 2.6% | 2.6% |
| 7/1/03 – 6/30/05 | 1.3% | 1.5% |
| 7/1/05 – 6/30/25 | 1.0% | 1.5% |
| 7/1/25 and forward | 1.0% | 1.0% |
In simple terms, if your Pension benefit was $1,000 a month, now it will be $1,500 a month
Keep your eyes and ears open for more information to come but this is exciting news!
Wage Allocation:
On May 12th the Bay Area NorCal Glaziers had our wage allocation vote for the 2027 wage increase. We have a total of $4.50 to allocate with this wage increase. The following is a breakdown of the allocation vote results.
$0.75 to H&W (held in reserve, anything not used will be allocated to taxable net)
$0.25 to NorCal Pension (this .25 will be on benefit)
$0.23 to IUPAT Pension (increase required by Constitution)
$0.17 to Wage Equity (Market Recovery)
$0.10 to IUPAT Admin Dues (deducted from taxable net)
$2.00 to Annuity
$1.10 to taxable net wage (any remainder of the .75 going to H&W will go to taxable net wage)
This will bring a Journeyman’s wage to $62.84 an hour with a total package of $103.45 an hour.
