New Organizer from LU 1237!

Posted January 3, 2023

My name is Edward Valencia, and I am the new Organizer for District Council 16 out of the Sacramento Region. I started in the trade at the age of 25 at Floor Covering Installers and have been a proud member of Local 1237 for over 17 years. I currently serve on the Executive Board as a trustee.

During my apprenticeship I was instructed by Fred Carter and Robert Ringor and have had the honor to work side by side with installers like Gus Cooksey and Robert Ringor as well. For much of my career, I have worked at B.T. Mancini but also had the opportunity of being a foreman for Anderson Commercial Flooring for a few years. Over the years, I have been out of work, been on strike, walked a picket line and even worked out of town for long periods of time.

I have lived in Sacramento my entire life (47 years). I am a single father to 3 amazing children: Kayla (26), Frances (19) and Edward Jr (17). I hope this gives you some insight about who I am and where I come from. Be safe and enjoy the holiday season with your family!
