More Work Hours!

Posted May 9, 2022

Hello Brothers and Sisters,

I would like to start off by talking about some upcoming projects in the Sacramento area. Through the Sacramento Sierra Building Trades we have secured many PLAs that is generated many hours for our membership. Some of these projects include 7th and Richards Blvd., Sacramento Courthouse, The Capitol Annex Building, and other city projects.

As we negotiate these PLAs it is important that we keep in mind to keep certain requirements in place in these PLAs. Some of the most important requirements are local hire, core employee language, local apprenticeship hire, and all requirements that follow the Northern California Glazer‘s Master Agreement. We also need to keep in mind that by securing these PLAs and working with community partners, we build a stronger community and we are able to negotiate more projects with their help. We have also negotiated PLA‘s at the Modesto Courthouse, the Stockton Courthouse, Aggie Square and CNU Hospital and many other various locations.

The only way that we can keep securing these PLAs is by working with our local community partners and politicians to make sure they understand the value that comes with a PLA. As we get into the summer months more of these projects will start to come out of the ground and hopefully will start to show the hours to our membership.

Safe Travels,

John Tweedt
