To all the proud new Journey workers from Glaziers Locals 718, 169, and 1621 — thank you for joining us at Scott’s Seafood in Oakland to celebrate this special night.

Graduations like this are truly one of the highlights of my year. It’s a chance to pause and truly honor the countless hours, late nights, and personal sacrifices you poured into completing your apprenticeship. You showed up, pushed through, and finished strong.

As Business Representative for Local 718 and a glazier with more than 25 years in the trade, I still remember exactly how stressful navigating the program was and how much relief would come after every pay increase. 

This achievement marks the end of one chapter and the exciting start of another. May your careers be long, safe, and deeply rewarding. Take pride in your craft, look out for one another, never stop growing, stay humble and stay teachable.
