DC16 Leadership
2026 is an election year, not just for the Government of California, but also the Leadership of District Council 16. With nominations being held at every Local Unions meeting this past May, many Local Union Representatives ran unopposed and secured their positions by white ballot. However, the positions of District Council Business Manager/Secretary Treasurer, Floor Layers Local 12 & Glaziers Local 718 were contested, which resulted in a Council wide election being held on June 13th.
The membership showed up strong to voice their opinion through voting with over 1200 ballots cast. The votes have been counted and the results are in.
Business Manager/Secretary Treasurer: Robert Williams III

Robert Williams III will continue to serve the membership of DC16 as Business Manager Secretary Treasurer for a second term winning 79% of the total votes. Robert is a 3rd generation Union member and a Painter by trade. Joining Local 741 as an apprentice in 1998, he worked his way through the field until 2012 when he became his Locals Representative. Since then, he has served the members in various roles with the Council before becoming the Business Manager in 2021. Under BMST Williams first term, all crafts across our Council saw some of the largest increases in their Collective Bargaining Agreements ever. The Bay Area Painters, Tapers & Glaziers Pension Funds came into the green zone, and changes were made that benefited members’ retroactively significantly increasing the amounts they will receive when they retire. Robert Williams works tirelessly for the membership, and we look forward to seeing what the next four years have in store for our Union under his leadership!
Floor Layers Local 12: Steve Belong

Steve Belong remains the Business Representative for Floor Layers Local 12, receiving 78% of the total votes for this office. A floor Layer by trade, Steves’ unwavering commitment to his Local shows not just through his overwhelming election numbers, but through the activism of the Local 12 membership. Year after Year, Local 12 wins most active Local with the most participation in our Unions Volunteer Activist Committee (VAC). Furthermore, Steve’s deep collaboration with Building Trades councils throughout the Bay Area has secured countless hours of work across all trades through Project Labor Agreements (PLAs). Local 12 is incredibly fortunate to have a Representative like Steve advocating for their craft for the next four years.
Glaziers Local 718: Trevor Long

Glaziers Local 718’s Trevor Long finished strong with 82% of the total votes securing his next term. Trevor has worked as a Glazier up and down the West Coast and has shared his knowledge with the next generation as an instructor at our Unions Training Center. After stepping into the Representative position mid-way through the last term, Trevor has completely dedicated himself to the role. Throughout his time in office, he has successfully resolved numerous jobsite issues and recovered substantial lost wages for his members.. We know that Trevor will work diligently in his next term to push Local 718 forward.
