It’s Contract Season
Posted junio 26, 2026
Hermanos y Hermanas,
I hope this article finds you thinking about what you want in your next contract. January of 2027 we will start contract negotiations for the Northern California Master Agreement, and then we will negotiate the Sacramento Addendum and Fresno Addendum. With over a year to go, I want to start talking about it next month. During the July Membership Meeting I will announce that we will begin to have monthly meetings to talk about what we want in our next contract. I am looking for one journeyman and one apprentice from each shop. We can have as many members join us who want to participate but we need representation from each shop. Meetings will be held once a month or as needed (more or less).
Some of you may have heard that the painter and tapers have just ratified contracts and they have. I looked over their contracts to see if there is anything that could benefit us and there are few things I would like to discuss, but I will also look at them for things that management might want to propose into our contract. Recently I was asked if I had started to prepare for the next contract and I started preparing for this right after the last contract was signed. Over the past few years, I have collected work hours, DAS 142 hours, member retention, market share and much more.
I want to take this time to congratulate DC16 BM/ST Robert Williams III, Local 12 Business Rep. Steve Belong, and Local 718 Business Rep. Trevor Long on their re-election win. I also want to thank those of you who came out to vote on June 13..
Below are several articles that I did not write but want you to have the information.
An Attack On One IS An Attack On All
District Council 16 stands in full support of our Brothers and Sisters out of District Council 10, Local Union 1778 in Texas, who are on strike fighting against unfair proposals that would take away hard-earned wages and gut their pension plan. These attacks threaten the livelihoods and retirement security of working families and are simply unacceptable.
An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us. That is why DC16 organizers showed up to support and stand in solidarity. When union members are under attack, we stand together.
The fight taking place in Texas is bigger than one local union or one District Council. It is about protecting the standards that generations of union members have fought to achieve. DC16 proudly stands with the DC10 Glaziers and will continue to support them as they fight for the wages, benefits, and retirement security they have earned.
Working people deserve fair wages, secure retirements, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing their future is protected.
Save for Your Future!
