Local 12 would like to wish our members and their families Happy Holidays, this is the season of giving and don’t forget that there are people out there that are struggling during these holidays. If you can give back to your community please do, there are a lot of resources in which we can donate essentials, unwrapped toys, canned food, monetary donations and simply volunteering whether it’s in your local food bank, soup kitchen, or your local church. Please see the VAC calendar for upcoming events, including toy drives in American Canyon, San Jose, and San Francisco, serving food to those in need in Menlo Park, and assembling care packages for troops in Napa.

Here are some pictures from previous VAC that the East Bay put together. Friendsgiving Turkey Drive in Concord with Assemblymember Anamarie Avila-Farias where 700 boxes with full meals for a families of six form Mimis Café where delivered to locations where they would be distributed to families who are less fortunate so that they could have a warm meal for Thanksgiving.  Assemblymember Liz Ortega at the 3^rd Annual Diaper Drive at 4 C’s in Hayward where over $157,000 was collected to help 1,500 families. And finally Raising Leaders and Partners where we put together 700 essential bags to help 700 families in the community across 52 schools and youth centers of Alameda County.

Local 12 will have a meeting on Thursday December 18^., we will have a taco truck from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
