LU 3 Events update!

On Saturday September 13., members of District Council 16 joined Mayor Barbara Lee, the Alameda Labor Council and several community partners to participate in a lit drop event to educate the community on the importance of getting out and voting Yes on Prop 50 this November. Donald Trump and Texas Republicans are attempting an unprecedented power grab to manipulate congressional seats and influence next year’s election before it even starts. Their goal is to secure enough seats to control Congress, regardless of the people’s vote. If we don’t act now, Trump could maintain unchecked power for another two years. Proposition 50, known as the Election Rigging Response Act, will protect the integrity of our votes and hold Congress and the President accountable, ensuring they can’t disregard the will of the people. We’re asking that you all support YES on Prop 50!

The Trades Women Build Nations conference is going down this weekend in Chicago, Illinois, from September 19–21, 2025. The event, sponsored by North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) and other unions, is the largest annual gathering of tradeswomen globally. It offers valuable opportunities for leadership growth, mentorship, networking, and skill development within unionized construction trades. The conference will include plenary sessions, workshops, a banner parade, and emphasize the importance of sisterhood and solidarity within the trades. Thank you to all the sisters that do the work every day and are an example of what resilience, dedication and commitment look like. We appreciate the value you give to our industry as well as our lives.

Are you ready for a night of support, encouragement and inspiration?! District Council 16 2nd Annual Recovery Night will be taking place next week, Thursday September 25., 2025. Dinner will be served at 4:30 with the program beginning at 5:30. Since its inception about 2 years ago, our brother James Boster have given hope as well as provided education, training and resources to members and their families who are struggling with mental health challenges, substance use disorder as well as alcoholism. This program connects members with resources such as counseling, therapy, and outpatient programs, which are covered by their health insurance benefits. So, if you or someone you love is struggling, know that you are not alone! Join us next Thursday as we provide a safe space for our brothers and sisters to express their difficulties and get the resources you may need to begin making these improvements within you life. Hope to see you there.
