Certification requirements for the Painters on Jan 1, 2026
Commercial Painters
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
and
- Scaffold Training
Journeyman Industrial and Bridge Painters
- CAS Level 2 certification for Spray Painters and Blasters
or
- Hanging Platform Training, Mobile Elevated Work Platform and Fall Protection
Bay Area Painters and Tapers Pension Fund Benefits Update
- On November 18, 2021, the Trustees voted to retroactively increase the multiplier from 1% to 1.5%, applying to the period from July 1, 2003, to December 31, 2020. You are eligible for this benefit if you worked a minimum of 400 hours in the calendar year 2020.
- Effective January 1, 2024, The Pension Trustees approved to increase benefit accruals for participants who have not retired yet and have 25 or more Years of Service by 1/3 of a percent.
- Effective January 1, 2025, if you complete 16 hours from July 1 to June 30 of the prior year, you will be credited in the immediate subsequent calendar year of $1.00 moved to on benefit from off-benefit contributions. You must complete the 16 hours of training between July 1 and June 30 each year to continue to receive the $1.00 in the following Calendar Year.
- On November 7, 2024, the Trustees decided to retroactively increase the multiplier by 0.5% for the period from July 1, 2003, to December 31, 2023. To qualify for this benefit, you must have worked a minimum of 400 hours in the calendar year 2023.
