Another Year Gone

Posted December 30, 2021

Another year has passed us by and what will next year bring us?  Here are just a few things that are one Local 1237’s calendar for 2022.  In February we have the Western Regional Conference in Las Vegas.  The Western Regional Conference is where District Councils and local meet to talk about their areas and what problems they are having by craft.  We will also hear from the new IUPAT General President Jim Williams.  In May we will have nominations for all Executive Board positions, all local Business Representatives and District Council 16 Business Manger Secretary Treasurer (BM/ST).  We will have elections in June, if needed.

In 2022 we will negotiate the Northern California Floor Covering Master Agreement and the Sacramento Area Addendum to the Northern California Floor Covering Master Agreement.  The master needs to be ratified by June 30, 2022, and the Sacramento Addendum needs to be ratified by July 31, 2022.  The DC16 negotiating team needs your help.  Starting in January we will reach out to all members about what they want in a contract and what they are looking for in wages.  I will be talking to members on the job sites, meetings, by email and any way I can find out what you want in a new contract. I can’t tell you enough how important it is that you are involved during the whole process.  After the contract has been ratified by the few members who vote on it, it’s too late to complain about what the members or the negotiating team should have done.

In closing I would like to thank you all for another year as your Business Rep. and hope that this article finds you and yours having a great holiday season.  I wish you a Happy New Year and a prosperous 2022.

Fraternally,

Randy Rojas
Business Representative
District Council 16/ Local Union 1237

The Election is just a few weeks away. I am sure everyone is sick of hearing about it but it is crucial that we get labor friendly candidates in office to keep us working and to hold the rights that the generations before us fought so hard for us to have. Below is a complete […]
