Negotiations and Latest News.

Posted June 7, 2021

Greetings Brothers and Sisters.

Summertime is now upon us!  June brings us warmer weather, graduations and family vacations. I hope you take time to spend with your family and loved ones.

In May and June Glaziers Contract Negotiations have been taking place.  Our goal is to have a contract to present to the membership in the next week or so. It is very important to make sure you make the effort to get to your local union hall and cast your vote on the upcoming contract so that we can move forward with the work that has been planned and is on the books.

Over the last month we have had a growing “out of work list”.  Jobs have been slowing down due to inspections and a shortage of building material. Most of our contractors have said the work is going to pick up in August so please keep in contact if you are not working. To make sure that you qualify for these upcoming projects it is very important that you keep up-to-date on your STARS classes and certifications. Booms and Lifts, CPR/First Aid, and Scaffold Training are required on almost all job sites. Please contact the STAR program to make sure you enroll in classes if you need these certifications.

Again, be safe and have a great summer and I look forward to seeing you at the next union meeting.
