The GOTV Super Walk & BBQ for Aisha Wahab was a get-out-out-the-vote event held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, ahead of the August 18 special congressional election for California’s 14th Congressional District. Volunteers went into the community to have conversations with voters and encourage turnout for Wahab with the focus on mobilizing voters immediately before the special election. After the walk, participants were invited to stay for a BBQ and community gathering. We would like to thank all our members that came out to support. Your time and dedication to supporting our labor champions are greatly appreciated.

The annual DC16 STARs Picnic is scheduled for Saturday October 3rd at 400 Gandy Dancer Dr. in Tracy CA. Did you know that STARs is our union’s training, certification, continuing-education, and member-incentive program. Providing training and certifications, our courses include things like OSHA, First Aid/CPR, scaffold/swing-stage, fall protection, booms & lifts/MEWP, and trade-specific skills. This training helps members meet dispatch requirements. For some DC16 trades, particular STARs certifications are required to be current before a journeyman can be dispatched to work. STARs offer these classes at no cost to all eligible members. Completing two STAR classes can make members eligible for the annual event and its prizes. STARs isn’t just a raffle/prize program. The training can directly affect your ability to get dispatched, depending on your trade and collective bargaining agreement. Invites have begun going out so if you haven’t received yours and believe that you qualify, contact the school for confirmation. You can also check the current classes and schedule on the official DC16 STARs site.
