Parade & Beautify

DC16 in partnership with Cypress Mandela INC and The Northern California Chapter of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionist (NCC-CBTU) will be participating in this year’s Black Joy Parade on Sunday, February 22, 2026, 12:30pm to approximately 2:30pm. We will gather west of Frank Ogawa Plaza, on Jefferson Street or Clay Street. All marchers are asked to arrive at 10am. We are expecting rain so bring your umbrellas, because we’re planning to be there rain or shine. This will be a VAC event! Please join DC16 and the NCC-CBTU with our continuing effort to beautify Oakland at our monthly Adopt-A-Highway Clean-Up this Saturday, February 21, at 6672 Oakport St. Oakland from 9am-11am. This is a reoccurring family friendly VAC where we clean the side of the freeway between the High St. and 66^th Ave exits on Highway 880 as well as the Damon Slough Staging Area. General President, Jimmy Williams, along with other members of the IUPAT will be coming to DC16 to do the Building Union Power campaign from March 9-13^th. This will be an intense week of training, job site visits, and membership engagement. We will be highlighting projects that have 3 to 4 of our crafts on site, so if you’re on a job where other DC16 members are, please contact your Business Representative. This will be a great opportunity to meet our leadership, speak directly to BM/ST Williams and GP Williams and ask any questions you may have.
