Sac Update

Posted February 10, 2026

Brothers and Sisters,

Although January was a very slow month, work is starting to pick up. We have dispatched several drywall finishers and painters throughout the month of January.

Please remember to put your name on the out-of-work list at the beginning of each month. The list is open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The office is closed from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM for lunch. You must call every month to be placed on the list, as it resets at the beginning of each month.

Please note that the regular membership meeting originally scheduled for February 9th has been rescheduled to February 23rd due to the office being closed. The meeting time will remain 5:30 PM. We look forward to seeing everyone there. Last month we had some great discussions about what members would like to see in the new contract, and this meeting is a great opportunity to continue that conversation and bring up any changes you would like to see.

We also have a DC-16 Recovery Night coming up, which will be held at the San Jose Local. The event will take place on February 26th and will be conducted in Spanish. This will be the first time DC-16 has hosted a Recovery Night in Spanish. If you know anyone who would like to attend, or if you would like to attend yourself, you are more than welcome.

The event will be held at Local 507, located at 2149 Oakland Rd., San Jose, CA 95131. Food will be provided and served at 4:30 PM, and the program will begin at 5:30 PM.

This recovery night is brought to you by the District Council 16 Helping Hands Program, which provides training, education, and resource development to help members and their families who are dealing with substance use disorder, alcoholism, and mental health challenges. Attendance can be very beneficial for you and your family.

Lastly, the VAC Banquet will be held on March 7th. If you qualified, you should be receiving an invitation in the mail soon. I would also like to thank all the members who came out to support the VAC events in the Sacramento area last year. If you have ideas for a VAC event this year, please reach out to the local union office for information on how to create one. These events help DC-16 members stay involved in their communities and give back.

In solidarity,

William Gonzalez
