We Care!

Saludos Hermanos y Hermanas.
I hope you all had a great three-day weekend and got to spend time with family and friends.
We held our annual VAC event in Dixon at the Veterans Cemetery, where we placed flags on the graves of our fallen service members. This event is always very moving and helps us remember how much our service members give us every day. It’s especially humbling to honor those who gave everything to keep us free.
Mark, your calendar for next year: the event will be on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend at 9 a.m. Please join us to support our veterans and the cemetery in any way you can.
In October, we will look into buying wreaths for the cemetery through the Wreaths Across America program.
There are a lot of important events coming up soon. As always, it’s important that you vote—whether it’s for your primary elections, union elections, contract votes, or any other votes coming up in the next few months.
As we head into summer, please stay safe on the roads. On the job site, make sure you get used to the heat and drink plenty of water. And if you see a member struggling, ask them, “Are you OK?” We all need to look out for each other.
Remember, if you are out of work, you must sign up on the Out-of-Work List on the first working day of the month. If you’re a journey worker and getting a dispatch, you need all your certifications ready before you accept it. If you need classes or recertifications, contact the union hall so we can help you get set up.
Safe travels.
