Watsonville City Council

Posted octubre 17, 2025

First, the job was extremely well done at the Watsonville City Council on October 14.

What we accomplished wasn’t just about policy; it was about people. It was about standing firm, shoulder to shoulder, for something greater than ourselves: the rights and dignity of every worker we represent. As a team, we showed unity. We did what I truly believe no one else could have done under that kind of pressure.

The council’s decision not to rescind the PLA agreement was a critical win. It’s proof that when we show up with unity and purpose, we move the needle. And while we’re not at the finish line just yet—being only one item away from securing the full protection of the PLA—we’re closer than ever. Now, it’s time for the delegates to roll up their sleeves and work together to create a solid pathway to get across the line.

I couldn’t be more proud of the union representation that came out Tuesday’s night. Every voice, every face, every presence made a difference. This was solidarity in action, and it’s moments like this that remind us why we do what we do.

To all the Journey people, apprentices, local citizens, business managers, organizers, and business representatives who showed up.

THANK YOU!!!!

ONE UNION. ONE FAMILY. ONE FIGHT.

Local Union 272, thank you for showing up and fighting for our work.

The fight is not over, and by standing together as one, we will prevail.
