Six and a half percent?

I hope this article finds you working as many hours as you can and looking forward to the Labor Day 4 day weekend so you can get some well-deserved rest and some family time. I want to thank those of you who came out to vote on June 13^., for the BM/ST and Business Reps. We currently have 301 members and the 20 members who came out to vote and decide who leads them, represents only 6 ½ percent of local 1237. As your Business Rep. I will say we can do better, as a member of Local for 31 years I will say most of you don’t care! This is as much of your local as it is the 20 members who participate, so I ask you why is it the same 20 or so people who attend the membership meetings, contract votes, wage allocations, VAC’s, STAR’s, and local by-laws vote? Every meeting we have food, we also have  raffle prizes at every Membership Meeting, we have refreshments at VAC’s events, and when we have hats, shirts, stickers, they are handed out? 2026 Walter Cantrell Scholarship

District Council 16 is proud to invest in the future of our Families! We are now accepting applications for the 2026 Walter Cantrell Scholarship. This $2,000 scholarship is available to dependents of any District Council 16 member in good standing.

If you have a son or daughter – or if your coworkers have children-please encourage them to apply! This scholarship can help cover the cost of tuition, supplies, books, and other educational expenses. Let’s spread the word and help our families succeed!
