Saving Lives, Building Futures: Our Commitment to Mental Health

Posted octubre 7, 2025

Our DC16 union family gathered for an unforgettable Recovery Night—an evening that brought awareness to addiction, mental health, and the strength of community support.

Quotes from some of the speakers:

  • “It’s ok not to be ok. Asking for heap doesn’t make you week – it’s one of your greatest strengths.” – Angela Njoroge
  • “It is never too late. No matter how bad it was, there is hope and there is an answer.” – Jeff Roberts
  • “DC 16 is giving children back their mothers and fathers. All the wages and benefits mean nothing if we’re losing lives” – Daniel Lincoln
  • “Behind every statistic is a person, a family, a community.” – Dr. Deb

DC 16 is leading the way by:

  • Breaking the stigma in construction
  • Providing real resources
  • Restoring hope to families
  • Giving our members their lives back

Construction takes a toll—not just physically, but mentally. Our industry faces some of the highest rates of suicide and addiction. The pressure, long hours, and stress affect us and our families.

After losing 182 members in one year, DC16 took a stand: no more silent struggles. That promise led to the Helping Hand Program, which has already saved 99 lives.

Thanks to the leadership of Robert Williams y James Boster, support is now available for members and their loved ones. You’re not alone. Help is here—for you and your family.

Asking for help is strength.
