NATIONAL SUICIDE PREVENTION AWARENESS AND RECOVERY MONTH<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MES<\/strong> <\/strong>NACIONAL DE CONCIENTIZACI\u00d3N SOBRE LA PREVENCI\u00d3N DEL SUICIDIO Y LA RECUPERACI\u00d3N<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did you know a construction worker is roughly<\/strong> 5 times more likely to die by suicide than from a work related injury?<\/strong>  Or that our industry consistently ranks<\/strong> 2nd overall for the highest rates of suicide<\/strong>?  Were you aware the construction industry is<\/strong> ranked<\/strong> 1st for drug overdose death rates among all major U.S. industries?<\/strong>   When our BMST, Robert Williams became aware of this crisis, he didn\u2019t hesitate and put the HELPING HANDS program together.  Since the inception of this program, Director of Mental Health and Substance Abuse<\/strong> James Boster has<\/strong> assisted close to 200 members<\/strong> to find help and support for substance abuse and mental health challenges.  The program is available for all of us.  All you need to do is take the first, and oftentimes hardest, step and ask for help.  YOU\u2019RE NOT ALONE.  The stats, both bad and good, prove it.  This is why it\u2019s important to talk to each other about it and to celebrate our victories.  Join us on November 5th to celebrate each other as we no longer stay quiet and reach out to each other.  This will be our third Recovery Night and it will be the biggest one to date.  Meetings in english and spanish will be going simultaneously and we will have food, fun, and support in abundance.  <\/strong><\/td>\u00bfSab\u00eda que un trabajador de la construcci\u00f3n tiene aproximadamente<\/strong> cinco veces m\u00e1s probabilidades de morir por suicidio que por una lesi\u00f3n laboral<\/strong>? \u00bfO que nuestro sector ocupa sistem\u00e1ticamente<\/strong> el segundo lugar en cuanto a las tasas m\u00e1s altas de suicidio?<\/strong> \u00bfEstaba al tanto de que la industria de la construcci\u00f3n ocupa el primer puesto en tasas de mortalidad por sobredosis de drogas entre los principales sectores de EE. Desde el inicio de este programa, el director de Salud Mental y Abuso de Sustancias, James Boster, ha<\/strong> ayudado a cerca de 200 miembros<\/strong> a encontrar asistencia y apoyo para problemas de salud mental y abuso de sustancias. El programa est\u00e1 a disposici\u00f3n de todos nosotros. Lo \u00fanico que hay que hacer es dar el primer paso \u2014que a menudo es el m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil\u2014 y pedir ayuda. NO EST\u00c1 SOLO. Las estad\u00edsticas, tanto las negativas como las positivas, lo demuestran. Por eso es importante hablar del tema entre nosotros y celebrar nuestros logros. Acomp\u00e1\u00f1enos el 5 de noviembre para celebrarnos mutuamente, romper el silencio y tendernos la mano. Esta ser\u00e1 nuestra tercera Noche de Recuperaci\u00f3n y la m\u00e1s grande hasta la fecha. Se llevar\u00e1n a cabo reuniones simult\u00e1neas en ingl\u00e9s y espa\u00f1ol, y contaremos con comida, diversi\u00f3n y mucho apoyo.<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
