District Council 16 was proud to stand alongside the Southern Nevada Building Trades during this year\u2019s Recovery Night, an event dedicated to hope, healing, and reminding our brothers and sisters in the trades that they are never alone in their struggles. Throughout the evening, speakers courageously shared their personal recovery journeys, speaking openly about addiction, mental health, and the importance of support, brotherhood, and second chances within the labor movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event served as a powerful reminder that recovery impacts many working families across our industries. From apprentices to journeymen, many in the trades face battles that are often unseen. Recovery Night continues to create a safe space where members and their families can come together, share their experiences, and support one another through difficult times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most heartfelt moments of the evening was the presentation of the inaugural Mark Reynosa Recovery Champion Award. During the ceremony, speakers reflected on Mark\u2019s dedication to helping others and his unwavering support of Recovery Night from the very beginning. Daniel Lincoln shared how Mark participated in countless planning meetings, helped expand Recovery Night efforts into other regions, and consistently gave his time simply because he believed in helping people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also reflected on Mark\u2019s compassion and selflessness, recalling conversations where he explained that helping others in recovery was something he felt deeply called to do. His impact reached far beyond meetings and events, touching the lives of countless individuals and families who found hope through the recovery community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mark Reynosa Recovery Champion Award will now be presented annually in his honor, ensuring his legacy continues for years to come. The first award was presented in Mark\u2019s memory and accepted by his wife, Ursula. District Council 16 is proud to have known Mark and proud to continue supporting Recovery Night and the important conversations surrounding recovery, mental health, and brotherhood in the trades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
