She began her career in the trades as a carpenter, but when work slowed down in 2023, she decided to explore her interest in painting. A general contractor referred her to Valdez Painting, where she was hired in August 2023 as a 55% apprentice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since then, Luz has advanced to an 80% apprentice. Although the carpenters invited her to return, she chose to remain a painter because she truly enjoys the work and the supportive environment. She appreciates how she is treated and values the guidance and support she receives at Local Union 507.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, Luz proudly serves as the Vice President of Local Union 507. She is also an active volunteer with Ayudando a Latinos a So\u00f1ar Half Moon Bay. Comenz\u00f3 su carrera en oficios como carpintera, pero cuando el trabajo disminuy\u00f3 en 2023, decidi\u00f3 explorar su inter\u00e9s en la pintura. Un contratista general la recomend\u00f3 a Valdez Painting, donde fue contratada en agosto de 2023 como aprendiz al 55%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Desde entonces, Luz ha avanzado a aprendiz al 80%. Aunque los carpinteros la invitaron a regresar, ella decidi\u00f3 quedarse como pintora porque realmente disfruta del trabajo y del ambiente de apoyo. Aprecia c\u00f3mo la tratan y valora la orientaci\u00f3n y el apoyo que recibe en el Local 507.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoy, Luz orgullosamente se desempe\u00f1a como Vicepresidenta del Local 507. Tambi\u00e9n es voluntaria activa en Ayudando a Latinos a So\u00f1ar Half Moon Bay. Luz est\u00e1 orgullosa y agradecida de ser parte del Local 507 y de tener la oportunidad de construir su futuro en este oficio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u26a0\ufe0f<\/strong><strong> Painter Certificates Required for New Dispatch<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before getting a <strong>new dispatch<\/strong>, painters <strong>must<\/strong> have the following certifications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pintores comerciales<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fall Protection (including Ladder Safety)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plataformas elevadoras<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anti-Harassment Training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>OSHA 10 o OSHA 30<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Capacitaci\u00f3n en andamios<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Industrial\/Bridge Painters<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>OSHA 10<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Capacitaci\u00f3n en andamios<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anti-Harassment Training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CAS Level 2 or Hanging Platform Training, Booms &amp; Lifts, and Fall Protection (including Ladder Safety)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Missing a cert?
