DC16 teamed up with the San Francisco Building & Construction Trades Council to help push through a new 41 story mixed use tower & Fire Station at 530 Sansom & 447 Battery in the Cities Financial District. The 574 feet tall tower will hold a 200 room hotel, 350,000 sqft of office space, parking and will replace the dated firehouse 13 improving public safety in the city. The developer has also committed to building affordable housing in China Town. Both projects have an all-Union Commitment! Unions throughout the City, along with the SFFD and activist groups from China Town spoke in favor of these projects at Land Use Committee meetings and in front of the Cities Board of Supervisors over the last weeks. With our concerted efforts, this project is coming closer and closer to breaking ground which will create hundreds of construction jobs for all of us, along with full time positions for hundreds of working people when the project is complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Trades Women Build Nations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Annual Trades Women Build Nations Conference took place September 19-21 in Chicago. TWBN is the largest annual gathering of tradeswomen in the world and one of the largest convenings of union construction professionals in North America with 6000 attendees this year. It\u2019s a powerful celebration of sisterhood, solidarity, and opportunity in the unionized building trades. This is always a favorite with the women of 913.
