{"id":11684,"date":"2023-10-20T12:20:07","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T19:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dc16iupat.org\/?p=11684"},"modified":"2023-10-24T12:20:32","modified_gmt":"2023-10-24T19:20:32","slug":"congratulations-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dc16iupat.org\/es\/congratulations-3\/","title":{"rendered":"FELICIDADES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>FELICIDADES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At October\u2019s general meeting brothers Javier Deloza and Brent Hudson stepped up and filled the vacant positions.&nbsp; Brother Javier is our new president and Brother Brent is our new Vice President.&nbsp; Let\u2019s welcome our newest, and familiar, members to Local 83\u2019s Executive Board.&nbsp; Thank you for stepping up brothers!&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>STAR classes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>REMINDER: <\/strong>Local 83 will be hosting a STAR class on October 28<sup>.<\/sup>: 1st Aid\/CPR\/AED.&nbsp; If you, or anyone you know has signed up, please make sure to attend.&nbsp; The more attendance we have at local classes, the more local classes we can bring to you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Period Drive<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On October 13<sup>.<\/sup>, I had the opportunity to volunteer with fellow Local 83 member Jodie Shuster and assist the Redwood Empire Food Bank on their Period Drive.&nbsp; The goal was to bring awareness to the need of feminine hygiene products for women in our community who can\u2019t afford these items.&nbsp; Those of us who have wives, daughters, and our sisters of Local 83 know that these types of items are a necessity and not a luxury.&nbsp; We, as Union members making living wages, can sometimes overlook or take for granted that some in our community can\u2019t purchase items they NEED.&nbsp; Thankfully this is where the Redwood Empire Food Bank steps in and helps women in need have access to supplies so they can live with dignity.&nbsp; At the last meeting, Local 83 approved a donation of $200 for this drive to give as a check or in supplies.&nbsp; After speaking with a representative of the drive, the best option was to provide the needed supplies.&nbsp; We donated literally hundreds of items to help the women in our community!&nbsp; Additionally, the volunteering aspect was to stand outside of a CVS pharmacy in Petaluma handing out flyers and asking for additional donations.&nbsp; Petaluma showed up!!&nbsp; By the time we were done, our bin was overflowing and we needed a cart to hold the items that didn\u2019t fit.&nbsp; What was pleasantly surprising was the many different people who donated: old, young, men, and women all bought products and donated to this event.&nbsp; At one point, the manager of the store came out to comment that she had to refill the shelves for feminine hygiene products section because they were emptying out.&nbsp; If you have any ideas for volunteering events, make sure to reach out to our VAC coordinator Jason Reid or myself.&nbsp; I am open to helping our area in any and every way.&nbsp; Remember, the need for these items is ongoing.&nbsp; Reach out if you can, and are willing, to donate and we can get them to the appropriate organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En solidaridad,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Carlos Flores<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>FELICIDADES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En la asamblea general de octubre, los hermanos Javier Deloza y Brent Hudson dieron un paso al frente y llenaron los puestos vacantes. Demos la bienvenida a nuestros miembros m\u00e1s nuevos y familiares a la Junta Ejecutiva del Local 83. \u00a1Gracias por dar un paso al frente hermanos!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Clases de STAR<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">RECORDATORIO: El Local 83 organizar\u00e1 una clase STAR el 28 de octubre: 1er asistente\/RCP\/DEA. Si usted o alguien que conoce se ha registrado, aseg\u00farese de asistir. \u00a1Cuanta m\u00e1s asistencia tengamos a las clases locales, m\u00e1s clases locales podremos ofrecerle!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Period Drive<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El 13 de octubre, tuve la oportunidad de ser voluntaria con Jodie Shuster, miembro del Local 83, y ayudar al Redwood Empire Food Bank en su campa\u00f1a menstrual. El objetivo era crear conciencia sobre la necesidad de productos de higiene femenina para las mujeres de nuestra comunidad que no pueden pagarlos. Quienes tenemos esposas, hijas y hermanas del Local 83 sabemos que este tipo de art\u00edculos son una necesidad y no un lujo. Nosotros, como miembros del sindicato que ganamos salarios dignos, a veces podemos pasar por alto o dar por sentado que algunos en nuestra comunidad no pueden comprar los art\u00edculos que NECESITAN. Afortunadamente, aqu\u00ed es donde interviene el Redwood Empire Food Bank y ayuda a las mujeres necesitadas a tener acceso a suministros para poder vivir con dignidad. En la \u00faltima reuni\u00f3n, el Local 83 aprob\u00f3 una donaci\u00f3n de $200 para esta campa\u00f1a para dar como cheque o en suministros. Despu\u00e9s de hablar con un representante de la campa\u00f1a, la mejor opci\u00f3n era proporcionar los suministros necesarios. \u00a1Donamos literalmente cientos de art\u00edculos para ayudar a las mujeres de nuestra comunidad! Adem\u00e1s, el aspecto de voluntariado consisti\u00f3 en estar afuera de una farmacia CVS en Petaluma, repartiendo folletos y pidiendo donaciones adicionales. \u00a1\u00a1Apareci\u00f3 Petaluma!! Cuando terminamos, nuestro contenedor estaba desbordado y necesit\u00e1bamos un carrito para guardar los art\u00edculos que no cab\u00edan. Lo que fue gratamente sorprendente fue la gran cantidad de personas diferentes que donaron: ancianos, j\u00f3venes, hombres y mujeres, todos compraron productos y donaron para este evento. En un momento, la encargada de la tienda sali\u00f3 a comentar que ten\u00eda que volver a llenar los estantes de la secci\u00f3n de productos de higiene femenina porque se estaban vaciando. Si tiene alguna idea para eventos de voluntariado, aseg\u00farese de comunicarse con nuestro coordinador de VAC, Jason Reid, o conmigo. Estoy abierto a ayudar a nuestra \u00e1rea en todos y cada uno de los sentidos. Recuerde, la necesidad de estos art\u00edculos contin\u00faa.
