This past Saturday July 9th The Drywall Finishers ratified a new Three year Master Agreement. Here are the highlights. All other changes are related to grammatical corrections, updated titles and/or references and/or related to updated legalities. The contract will soon be posted on the website in its entirety along with the wage schedule.
Article 6, Hiring Practices, Section 4, pg. 9: New Hiring Practices in conformity with our Bylaws
Article 8, Wages, Section 1(a), pg.13:
January 1, 2012 - $1.50
January 1, 2013 - $1.50 ($0.48 to Pension Rehab)
January 1, 2014 - $1.50 ($0.48 to Pension Rehab)
Article 8, Wages, Section 1(b), pg.14: the remainder of each increase above shall go towards Maintenance of Benefits (MOB) for Health & Welfare and/or Wages and/or Deferral System
Article 8, Wages, Section 1(b)(1), pg.14: Deferral amounts in excess of three dollars ($3.00) shall be split into two (2) increases due the immediate January 1 and the following January 1
Article 8, Wages, Section 2(d), pg.15: Job Foreman required to participate in STAR Supervisor Certification Training (16 hours annually)
Article 8, Wages, Section 3(d), pg.15: General Foreman required to participate in STAR Supervisor Certification Training (16 hours annually)
Article 8, Wages, Sections 4 & 5, pg 16-17: Apprentices and New Applicants shall have their Taxable Net Wage, Pension, Annuity and Vacation Holiday Pay calculated based on their respective percentage of Journeyman Taxable Net Wage and contributions (no current Apprentice shall suffer a reduction in Taxable Net Wage as a result)
Article 8, Wages, Sections 6, pg 17: New classification (Pre-Apprentice) prior to Apprenticeship at 35% for a maximum of six (6) months
Article 8, Wages, Sections 7, pg 17: Change rate from 45% of Base Wage to 40% of Taxable Net Wage (+$0.40)
Article 8, Wages, Section 9, Overtime, pg. 18: All overtime pay shall now be based on Taxable Net Wage not the lower Base Wage (Bay Area + $10.44 for OT and + $13.92 for DT)
Article 8, Wages, Sections 23, pg 21: Exceptional Conditions Permit
Article 9, Working Conditions, Section 10, Shift Work, pg. 24: remove restrictions so employer can schedule Shift Work whenever necessary but has to be at least 5 consecutive workdays. All hours worked outside the Regular Work Day (5:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday) shall be paid @ the Shift Work Premium (Taxable Net Wage + 15%). Must notify the Union in advance or overtime rates apply
Article 9, Working Conditions, Section 11, Flextime, pg. 24: On small projects of four (4) consecutive days duration or less where the customer will not allow work to be performed during the regular work day (6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday) the employer can schedule shift work @ straight time hourly rate. The Employer must request and receive a Flextime permit from the union otherwise overtime rates apply
Article 9, Working Conditions, Section 14, Tools, pg. 24: All Drywall Finishers performing work covered under the Agreement must wear white pants
Article 13, Payments To Trust Funds, Section 7 (b), pg 36: We can no longer transfer money from wages to benefits. The Taxable Net Wage can never be lowered.
Article 15, Period of Agreement, pg. 41: 3 Year Agreement, July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2014
