To the members of District Council 16, I would like to introduce myself I am Les Proteau the new Director of Service. I was honored when asked by BM/ST Chris Christophersen to take the position and I will work hard to do the best job I can. I know that the job will be challenging but I also know that with the help of DC 16 Staff, Business Representatives and Organizers it will be great learning and meaningful experience.
I come from the Painting trade and like my Grandfather and Father before me I made a good living for myself and my family. I have always kept an open mind and I learned early on that the one thing that is constant is change. I feel to be successful you need to educate yourself to deal with an ever changing environment.
The objective of the Service Department, as its title suggests, is to provide service to the members of District Council 16. I am hopeful that by looking at the materials you are able to access through this Website you will begin to understand the many ways District Council 16 strives to service your needs. We are committed to improving wages, working conditions and the quality of life of our members and their families.
The Service Department of District Council 16 is comprised of Elected Business Representatives from each Local Union affiliated with District Council 16. All Service Representatives are assigned and equipped to represent all members of District Council 16 regardless of their craft and/or Local Union affiliation.
All District Council 16 governing documents are democratically approved by the membership, and are then entrusted to the Service Department for production, distribution, information, education and enforcement. If you would like to review any of your Local Union Documents or District Council Documents make an appointment with your Local or District Council 16.
