It is with great pleasure that I extend my fraternal greetings to each and every member of District Council 16 and welcome you to our new website.  For those of you who do not know me, my name is Doug Christopher and I am the Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer of District Council 16.  It’s a long title but all it really means is, the buck stops in my office and it is my job to lead this great organization.

Leading this very large and diverse District Council is not a one man show; it takes an entire team of District Council leaders, Local Union leaders and most importantly an informed active membership in order to achieve our organizational goals.  The leadership team here at District Council 16 is made up of myself as your Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer, Chris Christophersen as your Director of Service, John Sherak as your Director of Organizing and Mike West as your Director of Communications.  In addition we have 19 Business Representatives representing 17 Local Unions and an additional 14 full-time organizers.

As you know, District Council 16’s logo depicts a fighting lion.  Our logo symbolizes the pride we have in what we do and who we are as union craft workers.  Like a pride of lions we also rely on one another in order to thrive and ensure our survival.  A key component to our survival and ability to thrive in the future is our dedication to a high performance/high value work ethic in every aspect of what we do.  I want you to know that all of us whom you have selected to lead this Union are proud to serve you and we are all dedicated to holding ourselves accountable to a high performance/high value work ethic when it comes to representing the interests of our members.

This new website is intended to help keep you informed about what is going on throughout District Council 16.  We also want to use this website to recognizing our member’s dedication to being a high performance/high value craftsperson and member.  We hope that you find this website to be a valuable tool in staying up to date on the many benefits of your union membership as well as keeping abreast of the many opportunities to further your dedication to being a high performance/high value craftsperson and member.
